Dick Clapp

Dick Clapp is a retired professor of environmental health and is currently a guest lecturer at Boston University School of Public Health. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Massachusetts – Lowell in the Lowell Center for Sustainable Development. He has taught classes about the public health consequences of climate change for many years, and now volunteers for BCAN and 350 MA on the pension fund fossil fuel divestment campaign. He has lived in Jamaica Plain for 38 years.

Sara Driscoll

Sara Driscoll came to Boston as an anti-war, anti-racist, feminist activist in 1970. She was a co-founder of the Jamaica Plain Tenant Action Group in 1972, which became City Life/Vida Urbana. In 1982 she became one of the first five female apprentices in the electrician’s IBEW Local #103 to graduate and become a journeywoman electrician. She has two grandchildren and four other wonderful youngsters in her life. Sara has been with BCAN for three years. She was drawn to the group for its clear understanding of climate issues, its multi-faceted approach of community-based, action-oriented work, the inclusion of racial and social justice in its climate understanding, its commitment to make links to all the neighborhoods of Boston, and the fun BCAN seems to have doing all of this work.

Judith Kolligan

Judy has been working with BCAN since around 2006. She spent about four years organizing her block in Jamaica Plain with movies, compost parties, canning parties, and Low Carbon Living groups with neighbors. She is a semi-retired social worker. Judy likes hands-on activities and getting to closely know her coworkers in the climate justice movement. She also enjoys writing climate lyrics to well-known songs, and was a member of the now-dormant Fossil Fuel Follies Singing Group. The rising high tide line on Buzzard’s Bay in Cape Cod freaks her out.

Mike Prokosch

Mike Prokosch is a carpenter, house painter, climate activist, gardener, popular economics educator, and former newspaper editor/reporter/publisher, graphic artist, political organizer, and street theater performer. He lives and works in Dorchester.
