Communications Summer Internship
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and creative Communications Intern to join our team at BCAN. As a Communications Intern, you will be responsible for managing our organization’s social media accounts and email communications to increase engagement, promote our mission, and drive membership and donations. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement communication strategies that align with our organization’s goals.
Responsibilities:
- Manage our organization’s social media accounts (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) by creating, scheduling, and publishing content that promotes our mission and initiatives.
- Monitor social media channels, engage with followers, and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Help develop and implement social media strategies to increase engagement and grow our following.
- Create and send email communications (e.g. newsletters, event invitations, fundraising appeals) to our members and subscribers using email marketing software.
- Collaborate with our team to develop and implement communication strategies that align with our organization’s mission and goals.
- Conduct research on communication trends and best practices.
- Help manage communication budgets and track expenses.
- Assist with website updates and maintenance as needed.
- Attend and assist with on-site events as needed.
Requirements:
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and trends.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Action Network is a plus.
- Passion for environmental justice.
This is a paid, part-time internship with flexible start and end dates. The hourly pay rate is $18.
Event Planning Summer Internship
Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Event Planning Intern to join our team at BCAN. As an Event Planning Intern, you will be responsible for coordinating tabling activities, planning social events for members, and coordinating participation in third-party events. You will work closely with our team to ensure successful events that align with our mission and values.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate tabling activities at events, festivals, and conferences to promote our organization and increase awareness of our mission and initiatives.
- Plan and organize social events for our members, such as picnics, outdoor activities, and educational workshops.
- Assist in coordinating our participation in third-party events, including managing logistics, coordinating volunteers, and preparing materials.
- Collaborate with our team to develop and implement event strategies that align with our organization’s mission and goals.
- Conduct research on event opportunities and potential partnerships.
- Help manage event budgets and track expenses.
- Attend and assist with on-site event setup, execution, and breakdown.
Requirements:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for environmental justice.
This is a paid, part-time internship with flexible start and end dates. The hourly pay rate is $18. An MBTA pass will be provided for event-related travel.
